What is galvanized coil used for?

Hot-dip galvanized steel coils can be coated with pure zinc by the hot-dip galvanizing process. It combines the economy, strength and formability of steel with the corrosion resistance of zinc. The hot dip process is a process of applying a zinc coating to steel to prevent rusting. It is particularly useful for a myriad of outdoor and industrial applications.

HOT DIP GALVANIZED COIL

Hot-dip galvanized steel coils are made from steel sheets immersed in a dissolved zinc bath with a zinc layer on the surface. The main production process used is continuous galvanizing. This means that cold rolled coils are placed in a dissolved zinc bath for a continuous galvanizing process.

Galvanized steel coils are a special type of steel coil used in many different applications in manufacturing and fabrication environments. Any type of steel coil is a flat material that is thin enough to be rolled or wound into a continuous coil. It can also be spun flat and cut to any length or shape desired. Galvanized steel coils can help users apply them to outdoor fabrication projects.

Galvanized steel coil can be used outdoors because of its natural ability to avoid rust or corrosion. The coil itself is usually available in different sizes.

The galvanized steel coil used by most builders is typically used in roofing applications. There, it is used as a protective cover or barrier for ridges and valleys in roofing systems. The coil is placed flat on the roof and then bent into the crease at the top of the ridge or in the valley to protect the joints in the roof panels from the natural environment. It also creates a watershed for stormwater runoff and melting snow and ice.
