Global crude steel production in September fell 8.9% year-on-year

On October 26, the World Steel Association (WSA) released September global crude steel production data. In September, the crude steel output of 64 countries and regions included in the World Steel Association’s statistics was 144.4 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 8.9%.
In September 2021, crude steel production in Africa was 1.4 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 51.0%; crude steel production in Asia and Oceania was 101.9 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.6%; crude steel production in the CIS region was 8.2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease 1.0%; EU (27 countries) crude steel production was 12.7 million tons, an increase of 15.6% year-on-year; crude steel production in other European countries was 4.2 million tons, an increase of 4.3% year-on-year; crude steel production in the Middle East was 2.2 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 35.7 %; Crude steel production in North America was 9.8 million tons, an increase of 19.2% year-on-year; crude steel production in South America was 3.9 million tons, an increase of 17.0% year-on-year.
From the perspective of the top 10 steel-producing countries, China’s crude steel output was 73.8 million tons in September, down 21.2% year-on-year; India’s crude steel output was 9.5 million tons, an increase of 7.2% year-on-year; Japan’s crude steel output was 8.1 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%. Increased by 25.6%; U.S. crude steel production was 7.3 million tons, an increase of 22% year-on-year; Russian crude steel production was estimated at 5.9 million tons, down 2.2% year-on-year; South Korea’s crude steel production was 5.5 million tons, down 5.0% year-on-year; Steel output was 3.3 million tons, an increase of 10.7% year-on-year; Turkey’s crude steel output was 3.3 million tons, an increase of 2.4% year-on-year; Brazil’s crude steel output was 3.1 million tons, an increase of 15.3% year-on-year; Iran’s crude steel output was estimated at 2.5 million tons , An increase of 8.7% year-on-year.
