According to Mysteel, European steelmakers are raising their hot-dip galvanized coil (HDG) and cold-rolled coil (CRC) prices, driven by strong local demand, especially from automotive suppliers.
Recently, ArcelorMittal set the target price of hot-dip galvanizing in northern Europe at 1,160 euros/ton, raising it by 30-50 euros/ton. The current target price of hot-dip galvanizing in Italy is 1,140 euros/ton. Hungarian producer Dunaferr also raised its HDG offer by €60/t to €1,180/t.
But EU mills are more cautious about hot-rolled coil (HRC) because of the large supply of European HRC and more intense import competition. According to market sources, ArcelorMittal has yet to increase HRC prices. Dunaferr’s current target price for HRC for German delivery is €920/t, which is higher than the lowest price of €880/t before the holiday, when prices around €900/t were also partially filled.
