According to Vietnam Customs statistics, Vietnam exported about 815,000 tons of steel in January 2022, down 10.3% month-on-month and 10.2% year-on-year. Among them, Cambodia, as the main destination, exported about 116,000 tons, down 9.6% year-on-year, followed by the Philippines (about 33,000 tons), Thailand (21,000 tons), China (19,800 tons) and Taiwan (19,700 tons).
In addition, Vietnam imported about 1.02 million tons of steel during the period, up 12% month-on-month and down 16.3% year-on-year. China was the largest supplier with about 331,000 tonnes, down 35.1% year-on-year. Other sources of imports include Japan (about 156,000 tonnes), South Korea (136,000 tonnes), Taiwan (128,000 tonnes) and Russia (118,000 tonnes).
