What is flat steel bar?
Flat steel, also known as flat bar, is a thin, long steel bar, typically ranging in width from 10mm to 100mm and in thickness from 1mm to 10mm. It is an important material in many different fields, including construction, machinery, and various industrial and civil applications.
Classification
There are two common types of flat steel:
Cut steel: Cut from steel plates, with a thickness of approximately 1mm to 10mm.
Hot-rolled steel: This product is produced from steel billets and hot-rolled into specific dimensions. Common cross-sections include 20x2mm, 30x3mm, 40x4mm, 50x5mm, etc. In tunnel construction, we frequently see pipes with dimensions such as 60×9, 60×10, and 60×16.
Applications of Flat Steel Bar
Due to its durability, excellent load-bearing capacity, corrosion resistance, rust prevention, and economy, flat steel is an indispensable choice in various industrial and civil construction projects. Specific applications include:
Used to manufacture galvanized grounding wires, fences, and door patterns.
Welded into various mechanical welded products.
Used to manufacture stair railings.
Widely used in tunnel construction due to its strength and flexibility.
